Weight management
Your weight in relation to your height is measured as your Body Mass Index (BMI – divide your weight in kg with your height in m, squared).
E.g. 70 kg / (1.75 m)2
= 22.9 BMI
A healthy BMI for an adult is generally above 18.5 and below 25.2
Being overweight puts you at risk of cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, some cancers and diabetes.2
Diabetes Risk Checker
How do you know if you are at risk of diabetes? Check some of the common symptoms or take the Risk Checker test.

Take action
You can control your weight with eating a healthy diet and regular exercise.2
In diabetes, if you are overweight, you will be advised to lose a minimum of 5-10 % of your body weight, as this has been shown to reduce cardiovascular risk factors. Losing a minimum of 15 % of your body weight has been shown to have a marked improvement of glucose levels and may even reverse diabetes.8
